Type RA Time Attack Car sets new record along famous Romanian road
Subaru’s well-travelled time-attack WRX STI has another notch to its belt: a record time along the famous Transfagarasan Highway in Romania.
Having already set the car lap record on the Isle of Mann TT circuit and clocked under seven minutes at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, the one-off racer was wheeled out again this month to set a new record on the road famously dubbed by Top Gear as the best in the world.
The Transfagarasan Highway is 84km long, has 2041 metres worth of elevation change and comprises 688 corners. The WRX was steered by multiple British rally champion Mark Higgins, and navigated by his co-driver, Darren Garrod, to a time of 40:58.08 minutes.
