I have an 04 FXT 4EAT. I just purchased the car 5 days.
I noticed during the test drive, but it doesn't sound to be a major issue.
It sounds as is something is loose or some bushings are bad.
It comes from the front of the car. It either has to do with the
suspension or possibly the steering.

The noise is audible over rough surfaces,
if I'm driving and turn the wheel to the right and then quickly back to the left,
and also if it is parked and I grab the roof rack and shake the car from side to side.

I am waiting on some assistance for some one to come shake the car so I can locate the noise more accurately.

Does anyone know what this could possibly be?

The first thing I'd check is the front sway bar end links. They're known to fail.

The first thing I'd check is the front sway bar end links. They're known to fail.
+1 on the endlinks get under it and grab the sway bar and move it back 4th. You should hear the end link knocking.
I finally got to check it today.
I got my neighbor to shake the car side to side via the roof rack.
I laid underneath an put my hand around the front swaybar's driver side endlink.
Clear as day!!
Particularly, its the top swaybar-side of the endlink.

Now, .... to fix this ...
should I tighten the bolt, or...
get a new endlink?

If i need a new endlink,
is the swaybar under any tension/compression?

Thanks for the help!

I tried to tighten the nut on the sway bar side of the end link and...
the nut and bolt just spin around. Won't tighten or loosen.

How do I keep it from spinning?
Is the something behind the rubber boot to grab?

Does autozone or advance keep these end links in stock?
Or is it safe to drive and wait to order some?
Im supposed to be going on an 8hr drive to an interview tomorrow.
But I dont want to risk tearing my car up....

Any help greatly appreciated!
