I'm having brain fade today and was wondering what the stock swaybar sizes on an 04 XT are?

I'm running coilovers with 7K (400lb.) springs and want to upgrade but keep the STOCK proportion front to rear as I like the neutrality of the way it is now. I've actually added in a bit of toe IN in the back as it was a bit loose on high speed sweepers.

I like the Cobb/ Hotchkis bars but am worried that i'll have excessive oversteer with the proportionately larger rear bar. I don't really want to play with tire pressures or alignment much to avoid excessive tire wear so...

Thank you and yes, please mention whether the front is hollow or solid if you post the size.
Thanks.

The stock 04 FXT bars are 21 mm front and 17 mm rear, according to the FSM. I'm not certain either, but I think both are hollow.

Front is 21 MM SOLID, and heavy if I recall.

Correct, the front SG Forester bars are 21 mm and solid. Also they are the same bar as the Sti's get. Rear is 17 mm and hollow. The 20 mm STi rear bar with STM brackets is a great upgrade. Very neutral handling. Boy do I miss the old database, but thankfully we still have Peaty and ScoobyMods to rely on. :D

O.K. great thanks. So does anyone know how to calcuate the solid equivalent to the 17MM hollow rear bar? What i'm thinking of doing is putting a 27MM solid front bar so that's 6MM larger than stock. If I can calculate the solid equivalent to the rear bar could I than increase the rear the same 6MM to keep the stock proportions front to back?

I somehow think that it's not quite as simple as increasing the size the same amount front to rear as I originally thought. Any ideas?

Here is my stab: The cobb 25 MM hollow front bar is said to be a 22.25 mm solid equivalent. So, that is a percentage difference of 12%. If you multiply .88 * 17mm that equals right around 15 mm add 6 mm to that and you get 21 mm.

SO, the STI OE bar that is 20mm which is so darn close to 21. I would try that setup. In fact, I have one of those bars in my storage, hint , hint. I might be seeling it soon without the STI brackets.

Sounds about right ploney, thanks. I saw a calculator either here or on NASIOC. I just can't find it.

I indeed do remember you mentioning your RSB. Will keep that in mind.

Speaking of scoobymods, here's a great link on sway bar sizing. http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27

Funny how the SF forester's measly 13mm hollow bar isn't evn on the chart...

 :?
The SF 13mm rear is a solid, I swapped mine for a bugeye STI 20mm, solid links all around, its more stable but currently looking into a thicker front bar!
