Do you have a transmission cooler? That will help quite a bit in keeping the transmission alive for longer. I would also upgrade the fluid to a good quality synthetic. I am running about 120hp/tq more than stock on my 4EAT for about 1.5 years, so far so good...

Sleeper XT, If I recall correctly you didn't have a cooler on yours before the failure did you?

You speak of this as if it were simple. How complex is it to do this? Are there adverse interactions with the auto-locking center diff? I have a 2000 and the AT is driving me nuts...

I believe the center diff is part of the transmission, so the center diff would be replaced with one from a manual tranmission as well...
