I'm working on a drive train drop for my SF of 1.5 inch. So I need a longer steering universal joint shaft. Has anyone here checked into any after market joint kits? I think I have found a source for joints that will work. At the rack on the SF the shaft is about 16mm and 20 spline. I still need to check the base of the column. A .625-20 spline joint should work. I'm changing a rack on a SF in the morning I will post what I find out.

This could be a better option for those switching to different racks than cutting and welding a stock shaft. A new stock shaft is around 140.00 so these are not a bad deal.

Both the steering column and the rack on a SF are both .625 x 20 spline.

I was looking at the universal joint shaft today and I'm going to remove the rubber joint and replace it with 2.25 round bar that is 3 inches long. This should work I will post pics when it is done.

I am very interested in this, how did it work? Any pictures?

I am trying to bring the steering wheel closer to me as we don't have telescoping column... so I'm thinking of making the universal joint longer...

Thank you!
