This thread is essentially worthless..just a bit of excitement.
Was doing the ebay search for an 04 STi rack...found one marked 05 06 07, but checked it out anyway. After reading through the ad the description was for an 04. Sent an email to confirm and it's in fact an 04! BOOYAH ACHIEVED.
Forester = variable ratio (wide ratio at the center and gets tighter at the ends of the rack, so at full lock its about the same ratio as wrx/sti)
STI=15:1 fixed ratio
I love ebay finds like that. The best was when you used to be able to spell searches incorrectly.
More than once, I had stumbled upon "Brambo" calipers for sale dirt cheap (just never cheap enough for me to be able to justify them).
mis-listings are also great. Thats how I got the OEM rear diff protector for my SF. It was listed for a Hyundai Sonata, or something like that.
The trans I got on ebay, also, was listed as a 2002 Subaru Forester 4-speed transmission. $150 shipped for a still-in-shipping-crate transmission can't be beat.
