I started my car this morning and got loud squealing noise which lasted long enough for me to open the hood and saw some smoke and smelt burning. Not sure if belt or pulley.I just had my belt and tension checked a few weeks ago.Any ideas what might be causing this Squealing?

I think that I isolated the Squealing noise and burning smell ,it's seems to be coming from the AC compresser . Anyone else have a simliar problem? I hardly ever use AC, maybe two tomes a year.

I had my AC pump lock up in my old Buick wagon for apparently no reason at all. Try removing the AC belt and see if you can turn the AC pulley by hand.

The A/C belt tensioner tends to go bad on these, more likely than the compressor itself. Mine went around 110k, sounded very broken!
