Hey guys,

Just bought a 2009 forester. Any ideas about the source of this noise? At first, I thought it's a serpentine belt but the sound comes somewhere from the throttle area.

I figured out today that it's a clutch issue. When I slightly press the clutch the sound goes away. After releasing the pedal it comes back. So will be trying to find a solution.

Does it still make the sound when the clutch is fully depressed? Since it comes and goes with the clutch it could be the throw out bearing. The part isn't expensive but the labor is intense.

If your dropping the tranny you might as well price out doing the whole clutch job while your at it.
