As per the title, my garage has said they might need to change the top-hats when fitting the Whiteline control springs, so any ideas where to go for them in the UK (and get them shipped over here)?
Thanks
Simon

When I needed gaskets and stuff I was adviced to this site Home Page - - Cheam Motors

Edit: Call Gary at 0044 208 394 2263
Thanks, Elmy, I was hoping to avoid main dealers! I'll see how much they want, and then make an appointment to see my bank manager :icon_wink:

TOP MOUNTS SUBARU

They made me adustable top mounts front and rear

Very friendly
That's a good source, thanks Nich, but at £59 front and £69 rear it's starting to look expensive... I presume the price is a unit price?

If you can hang on im replacing mine?

but the only reason to change is if you want adjustable, or there is a known problem

seems I would swop it all out and only replace whats broken

I was advised that to go as far as replacing springs and struts, and then not to replace your top mounts, might be false economy, if once they have been changed it starts a bumping and a knocking

That sounds like an offer to good to refuse... you're replacing the original ones or the adjustable top mounts you were talking about earlier?
I was supposed to be getting it done the week after next, but the mechanic is going away for the weekend.

The mechanic said it was likely that they'd be a bit worn, and "stuck" on to the car. I'm not aware of any problems with the ones I have, and was going to change the struts next year (and thought about doing the tophats then).

Standard ones out

Adjustable comp brake ones in, as well as kyb struts on flatout springs,

plus four new tyres and a full geometry

That will be £60 then........

Ok, how old are they?

The "boss" doesn't even know about the springs yet... :evilatyou:

is it worth changing from what you have?

Im tempted in just selling the suspension as complete units

but ..........

91k in miles... ? (I'm at 155,000km) it's probably not worth my changing from mine, buts thanks very much for the offer.

I agree

probably only worth something to someone returning to standard or in desperate measures

I changed my SF for SG units at about 100,000 miles and the top hats were fine. A little rusty perhaps but no perished rubber or rips/tears.

I'd watch him take them off and inspect them yourself m8.
