Dang. Just planning for the future if my car doesn't sell. 18g seems around the right place for me.
What are the two cars ahead of you in your autocross class??

I love that it's a Forester doing what Foresters weren't designed to do! Awesome stuff.

Yeah, my bushings are definitely going and my shifter needs a part replaced which might be why I think it's the tranny that's dying. That, and my flywheel is most definitely warped :icon_rolleyes:

If those two issues solve it though, then I'm willing to say that a 20g is not going to destroy your tranny if you're careful and have a good tune :)

This fully STI-swapped wagon with insane suspension and 9.5" wide wheels is in 1st:

He's also either the fastest or second fastest out of everyone at every event

The other guy in 2nd is in a Miata and the reason (I think) he's ahead is because I missed a couple of events this season.

Thanks! The next update will come in the form of a new face muffler to replace my cracked COBB one. I'm shooting for Saturday so stay tuned...
Dempsey! Did you ever figure out how to fix the high and low beam problem with the new headlights -Jack

I said screw it and fixed the mount for my PIAA lights. Basically, I'm never using my horrible OEM high beams again (until I can afford to pay a shop to make them work).

For the wiring... this should be what you need to do to make your SG5 harness work with the SG9 headlights:

Here it is...
The moment you've all been waiting for!

The wiring diagram to convert '03-'05 headlights to the newer, '06-'08 ones!!

This will make it so that your low beams don't give the high beams a phantom load when they're on and will also make the low beams stay on when you turn on the high beams - just like they're supposed to!

*Use the driver side headlight plug for this and run wires across to the passenger side headlight assembly. Do not connect anything to the passenger side headlight plug coming from the car - tape / seal the plug instead and do not use it.

A huge thanks to Joshua H (thebeephaha) for this!

The Last Big Update
...until next Summer. This isn't necessarily a bad thing though!

I'm sure some of you know that I'm moving to Ashland, Oregon in two weeks to move on with my life, education, and career. I had to make a tough decision a few weeks ago which ended in me selling my new (to me) Mini Cooper JCW... It has been very bittersweet as I really did enjoy driving that car and it got awesome gas mileage for such a sporty little car. I realized that I could never forgive myself if I parted ways with my Forester and so I spent a little money (finally) and got to work.

I had to make the Fozzie a reliable, daily driver but I wasn't about to let that stop me from racing. Here's what went down... :icon_wink:

First and foremost, I absolutely had to have my interior back in. I apologize to everyone who wanted to buy parts of it but I didn't really have another option.

My suspension was a ticking time bomb with Godspeed coils in the back and who knows what in the front. It was unsafe, creaky, and, did I mention that it was unsafe?! My budget wasn't unlimited so I ended up with BC Racing Coilovers, 450 front / 330 rear. Not bad! I went a little lower because why the heck not?!

Now that I was on suspension that I felt comfortable with, I decided to take care of a few interior issues that had been bugging me. Leather and I seem to have issues... My shift knob was torn and my JDM STI steering wheel had about a 5" gash on the leather from catching on my knife (or something!).

I bought a new custom shift knob and EPR steering wheel from Checkerd Sports. If you haven't noticed, I love racing and am a big nerd who loves computers and gaming. A good friend of mine traded me a Sparco hub and quick release for my old wheel and some computer stuff - sweet!

I also needed to do something about my straight-piped race exhaust as Ashland is a somewhat quiet town. Luckily, Mr. Lance was had a knock-off COBB cat-back exhaust lying around and was generous enough to give it to me. All I had to do was make a road trip down to the Bay Area - and you don't have to ask me twice to go for a nice, long drive! I don't have any good photos (yet), although I'm sure you would rather hear how it sounds!

Finally, I never bothered to purchase fender liners and have been having major issues in wet weather. It rained the other day and I finally put two and two together - water was being sucked into my stock air box and then into my engine. My tuner happened to have a spare short ram intake which he let me use. Since I swapped it in and blocked the fender hole (with the Mini's old plate!), the car runs great and sounds even better!

Here's how the car currently sits, enjoy...

Awesome!
Unless it's a dedicated track car that I'm not driving on the street.......I would NEVER remove the airbag. That's just not a smart move IMO.

Other than that, the car seems like it would be an awesomely fun car to drive.

Will you approve if I buy a HANS and daily drive with that on? :icon_wink:

I'm going to be in boring-to-drive-in Ashland for the next two years and I'm hoping that if I do get into a 20mph crash, I'll be okay with no airbag...

The car is really nice right now, engine feels strong except at idle, and it's nice and comfy inside again. I'll be getting up early tomorrow morning for a smoke test so I can find out if I've got an air leak or if I need to have Mike change my ECU map. Even pushing 260WHP / 280TQ, this car is a beast.

Would strongly recommend throwing the stock wheel back on there. That steering wheel doesn't have any benefits in street driving compared to stock. Hell, I would just source an STi wheel from a newer car and go with that. Even a 20 mph crash without airbags will f you up!

DO IT, or I'll fly out there and beat you with your own steering wheel, then thank you for installing a quick release to make the ease of beating you with it easier.

Fly out here, I dare you! I'll just wait until you're about 2 minutes from my house and then I'll swap my old wheel back on and you won't have to kill me! ...but you'll be here so we can hang out and do fun stuff instead
