Thanks Mike.

Unfortunately, I was launching today and I heard a pop and some grinding and the rear of the car feels like it no longer has power. I think it's my drive shaft but might be the rear diff... Anyone have an idea as to what I may have broke?

Referring to a gear in the diff. Not entirely positive as to which specifically, but you have the planetary gears and the sun gear which is one of the central ones. Maybe.

Google. Then bite a stick and buy the STi drivetrain swap your car needs.

Poor little Forester...
Hopefully it's the drive shaft and not the rear diff!

Yesterday while launching (and being a turd), I heard a loud pop followed by some grinding and then a lack of power to the rear of the car. It feels like the car will not really move and then suddenly jerk and start moving. I drove it to my mechanic this morning and it seems like it pulls instead of "AWDs"

I've got my fingers crossed that it's nothing extremely major and if it's fixed by the end of week, I'll be autocrossing Saturday and Sunday!

EDIT: Looks like it was in fact my rear diff exploding. Here's the proof...

They see me rollin'
Because my new diff is installed!

Here's a photo from last night. My mechanic let me help out and over the course of four hours, a pizza, and a few beers, I was back on the road! Just in time for this weekend's autocross!!!

In hopes of keeping Brian happy...
Here's yet another photo of the Fozzie!

Installed my super-custom Thule roof rack last night in hopes of getting some biking in today. I think it's actually going to happen, too!

Also: Can someone tell me I'm not delirious in thinking that the 06-08 Foresters have much beefier side skirts than the pre-face-lift ones (a-la mine)?!
(Brian, Remington - I'm looking at you)

Despite my evil air leak,
The first SCCA Autocross of the season wasn't half bad!

Saturday was a Test 'n Tune Day and this is unfortunately the only photo of my car that was taken all weekend... Trimming those fender liners because ...racecar?

Yes, we have a boxier side skirt on the facelift SG's

Glad you got your diff. issue sorted out quickly! BTW what size tires are you running? They look pretty wide!

*** edit: just read page 1. 255/40/17
Too bad that info is incorrect... Oops!!

They're actually 255/45/17s and they're some model of Kumhos.. I should probably update that first page at some point.

The Foz still has an air leak
I'm about to give up, but first...

I ordered new injector gaskets or whatever for the passenger side fuel rails - should be here on Wednesday so we'll see what happens. I'm almost wishing the engine would blow so I'm forced to buy another car sooner than later.

This whole thing is making me feel like crap and honestly, I have no hope that those gaskets will fix the problem. I'm definitely not putting the $200 or whatever it costs into a new manifold / TGV housing setup (everything is f***ed up in that general area) at this point.

P.S. My Rota Torques are for sale... $500 OBO. Here's the Craigslist Link.

I'll just leave this here...
Who knows how long it'll be there.

Could be for the night, could be for a few weeks, or even a few months... We'll find out tomorrow
So it ended up being a few months and two missed autocrosses but here's what's going on (again lol).

I fixed my PIAA driving lights last night which I've been meaning to do for a while.. And my hesitation issue looks like a P2138 code which seems to be accelerator-related. I'm working on that now because there is another autocross in two weeks and I definitely want to be there!

My engine has a slight oil leak which I found out about after letting the Foz sit in the garage for the past two months. I think it's the valve covers so those ought to be replaced before the 12th as well.

I'll leave you with this until later today or tomorrow: It's now a dedicated track car

I wonder what the rest looks like...
