Snowy FTMFW!!
LOL
Can't wait to drive next week brotha!!! :)
20G FXT + Snoshado = :censored: me!

:biggrin::biggrin:

Hurry up and post pics!

And congrats...I think. :crazy::biggrin:
:lol: I won't! I'm gonna take care of her! You'll get that FXT soon enough! Maybe if repairs are too expensive on the Outback this summer you can just trade up or something?!

Lol, nah, I'm keeping the Outback. Honestly, I'd probably gut and rebuild it, turbo / 5spd swap it, before I would buy a FXT now. :biggrin:
Nice car, congratulations.

I'm sure you know to be careful. It isn't realistic at your age (or my age, or probably any age for some people) to NOT "get on it" driving a car like that.

I can make the car a little safer for you and protect your transmission too -- wanna swap turbos? :icon_biggrin:

I think we're all mostly worried about a relatively new driver NOT ending up as a very messy pancake/tree ornament. My parents started me off driving gokarts and such when I was younger, but even still, looking back on the first few years of driving when I had a mustang GT and the FXT, I'm not sure how I'm still alive! Especially with a car with that much power, you HAVE to know how to control it past the limits, not just how to control it in normal driving. Also I would start putting money into a "I need a new clutch/transmission" fund (or a de-mod fund, I'm not sure a 20g is really ideal for a daily driver).
Yep, totally understood. We just had a lady down here who tried to sell her Corvette but ended up killing herself and injuring her buyer when she mashed the pedal to go around a corner and smacked the car into a tree.
Something tells me this thing will have like 200 pages before the days end.. Snowy just do us all a favor and keep the foot light on the pedal. We wanna see you live buddy. :)
Right people?
Congrads. I would fix the coolant issue 1st andthen clean it 2nd.
I think I'd have a mellow low boost map made, then swap back to the higher bosot map after I got a good feel for the car and how it drives. I have 3 maps I switch between, but my main daily drive map is my lowest psi map.

leave it in Valet mode for a couple weeks? :biggrin:
DNPMSLMFFAO!!!
Lol, love the new title he got, epic.

I'm worried about the foz. lol.

I talked to him this morning, he drove the X to school, so no worries about pancakes methinks, maybe muffin tops at most.
Mmm maybe more like a map for normal driving and a map for race events I think. Using a time limit on a conservative map still means you have the same risk after the time limit expires. Situational maps, however, I think would present the use of certain maps in more controlled environments (e.g. race map at an autox so risk of hitting a center divider or another car is quite small). Need to practice restraint though :)
IMO, you dont meed multi maps. Its all in the control of your right foot. I have ran my map for 18 months with no problems and its makes dang good power.

What's valet mode?! My car is in it right now I believe...

BTW I came home and switched cars at lunch today :lol:

and whoever said the thing about the coolant leak getting fixed first, it's very minor and the shop said it's not a huge concern so I'm good for like a month of minimal driving :biggrin:
Valet mode is a Cobb maps that limits rpms to something like 3200rpm.
What engine management are you using? :confused: If COBB AccessPORT, you can start your research here. :wink:

Bobby...

it's very minor and the shop said it's not a huge concern
you will soon find out that on a modded car nothing is minor.
oh and Cobb AP has a valet map;
<Valet mode operation. Lower Rev limiter and low boost.> for when you leave your car at the dealership or use a valet service.. like that would happen..
to the OP:

Don't let the haters grind you down. Just be careful! By and large, I believe your fellow posters are just concerned for your safety, and not just trying to rain on your parade. There may be some jealousy involved as well, but I can only speculate.
1) Fix the coolant leak. Don't listen to shops that told you not to, they are wrong.
2) Find out as much as you can about what was done with the car. Find out who tuned it, for what boost target. Get a dyno sheet if you can, post it here so we can take a look. Log the car, post a log. If you have AP v1 which won't log, you'll need a tatrix cable and a laptop.
3) Drive it as smooth as possible. Don't dump the clutch or stand on the gas hard, the tranny and/or diffs will blow up. Don't push it above 5K. If there are issues, it'd cause damage.
4) Don't drive on the valet mode map if you have the AP. It is unsafe and is meant for driving in parking lots only.
5) If you can make it to the Bay Area, bring it to LIC to have them take a look. EQ Tuning is in Fairfield which is closer, you can bring it there too. While you are here, you can meet up with some local peeps.

@sea-scooby: Oh I think it's in Valet Mode as in "the parking lights don't flash when you press lock/unlock" - I read this in the manual and it has something to do with holding buttons down on the remote :lol:

@Duderotomy: I don't care :biggrin: I've always wanted a title and now my dreams have come true! Haha

@buzzword: Thanks, I know they're just being concerned about me (and the Foz I would bet!)

@stan: 1) Okay, next paycheck.
2) Will do, I have the original owner's info so I'll call him up or email him.
3) NO! I'M CLUTCH DROPPIN' ALL OVUH TEH PLACE! Jk, my shifting is getting smoother and I'm shifting around 3k (is this good or should I maybe go up to 4 or..?)
4) I guess I'm not in valet mode because I did get the rpms up past 6 once but I'm not making a habit of doing that :lol:
5) I'll be down there next Friday.. But not in this car :confused: I'll make it down sometime soon so I can get all that done. Would you mind sending me a PM with pricing for this? I'm kinda broke-ish right now :lol:

Thank you for the input!!!

@everyone:

I'm going to put the interior back together and go take some pictures! Wish me luck! :biggrin:
