This was my first real dirt drive out by Pyramid Lake, NV! Good times :icon_wink:

I'm also going to try and refinish my roof rails - they're turning grey and have dark spots where the warning stickers used to be. Any suggestions on this one? I think I'll start with some armor all and see what happens
Spray WD40 onto rag. Use elbow grease. :icon_biggrin:
Man the front end conversion came out fantastic, great choice for the hoodscoop!
Cute gf too :)

Why not just spray them? I used Duplicolor "Trim Paint" (green can), and they came out amazing. It's the same paint I used on my grille. Durable, a dark satin black, and easy to spray.......

Because I use them and won't the paint crack or something? Maybe I'll pick up a can tomorrow (painting the wheels a final time) and give it a shot. I'll post some pics of my rally-inspired front end that nobody on here has seen *wink wink* tomorrow too.

Yours turned out great btw! Did you sand them first or anything?
My roof rail painting was a failure so I'm going to wrap them instead.

Buuut... here's some crappy cell-phone eye-candy of my properly painted WRX rims (sanded, base coat x2, clear coat x2, baked in the sun for 12 hours).

The rims look nice Dempsey.
I guess the only way to tell that your car is an 04 now are the lower door trims and the hatch trim panel.

Oh and it says Forester on the other side of the hatch compared to the later SG's.
Thanks Rem. I have to resist the temptation of dirt roads for a while while the paint hardens :(

I'm thinking of replacing the door panels and rear trim one day.... Maybe I'll buy the "Subaru" rear emblem and swap it and the Forester one someday too! ...and I may have ordered front and rear "STI" badges yesterday too.. hehe

Unfortunately, I drove an '08 STI last week and fell in love with it.. and while I was at the dealership yesterday, the salesperson who always helps me took my FXT for a test drive and then offered me $12k for it.. Decisions, decisions!
I really like how those wheels turned out. Looks great as well as the sti touches.

Maybe clean up some of the stickers...

Thanks, I added front and rear STI badges this past weekend too!

I have to keep the stickers on - it's a rally car haha

Anywho, today I put the interior back in because someone is interested in taking her off my hands :icon_confused:
For the right price I think pretty much anybody would sell their car...

Especially when they're offering what I paid for it after I doubled the miles since I've owned it...

But hey, the guy works at a Subie dealership I purchase from all the time and he knows what he's getting himself into
Next mod: find out what's wrong with my engine (turbo).

So I did a compression test today and I have ~100psi on 3 cylinders and ~90psi on the other...

Pretty unhappy with those results but nothing I can do about it right now :/

On another note, I was offered an STI Turbo + $500 as a trade for my Blouch 20G-XT Turbo. Decisions, decisions...
Isn't the spec like 140-160 psi or something like that :\

Exactly, I think the lower acceptable rate is around 140+.

Start saving for a leak down test (over a compression test) that will tell you where you are losing compression. It could be rings, intake valves, exhaust valves or even head gasket. Rings usually mean overbore with new pistons and rings, ca-ching, and while doing that, better re-seat the valves as you reseal it with a new gasket kit.

And do you really want to be known for trading in a dead horse, so-to-speak.:shake:
Thanks for all your input guys...

I'm going to give my friend a call tomorrow... He works at a Subaru dealership and has been begging me to sell him my car for the past few months - I'll explain what's going on and what he thinks I should do.. If he still wants to buy it for a discounted price then I'm selling my baby :/ if not, she'll go up for sale on here as a part out or at a discounted price.

I never thought one could become so attached to a car :'(
