hey man... long shot since this thread is two years old but I had a question about your sti exhaust on the 4EAT. Does it sound alright? I wanna get an aftermarket exhaust for my XT but I'm afraid of drone or ****ty shifting sounds. So just wanted to get your opinion

It's strange that I am now the current owner of your old forester and I appreciate the mods you have done ^^.

Just now seeing this. I'm glad someone is still enjoying the car! I truly miss driving it.

BTW, I saw in your other post that the car had issues when you got it. Sorry to hear that. I took really good care of it and it was running perfectly when I sold it, so I assume someone abused it in the interim. :(

@Smooth Had a little bit of issue with the turbo, other than that so far so good! Thank you for taking care of the car :) I am enjoying it as I have been treating the car with lots of jdm parts. Just need a few exterior mods and new wheels + brembos and it will be almost a forester sti clone :ROFLMAO: Although I am a little sad that the car came with so many dings and dents but oh well.

also.. do you know if these wheels would clear the brembo calipers? that way I can do the calipers before getting the work emotion cr kai :D

@rei07 I dreamed of adding more JDM pieces to the car (especially the side skirts). :) The turbo I installed did have a decent number of miles on it plus the classic VF39 wastegate crack so it was probably not going to last forever, unfortunately. I believe that the Rota Torques that I had on the car do clear Brembos, but IIRC it would be very close and might require a small spacer.

@Smooth Oh boy.. perhaps it is time for a new turbo after all, the car just hit 123k and I wonder how much would it run me to get the turbo rebuilt/replaced. Although I am currently waiting on JDM headlights, they are stuck in customs right now. Will post pictures after they arrived and on the car (hopefully soon).

In case you are interested, here is the NASIOC post where I bought the turbo (from an '04 STi). https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1773468

That was ten years ago (why am I so old) and the seller claimed 40K miles at the time. Knowing typical online sellers that mileage was probably low, but the turbo was in good shape when I installed it other than the wastegate crack. However, we're still talking about a 15-year old turbo that has probably 140K+ miles on it now, so it could be worth thinking about a replacement.

I don't currently own a Subaru, but it's just due to life circumstances and the timing of when I had my kids more than anything else. I would certainly buy another Subie in the future if they offered the type of vehicle I was looking for.

It's been a long time but I figured I would post a picture of the car to keep you updated. Definitely need a wash but it has been raining almost all the time, very much looking forward to the sunshine. I also have the sti brembo calipers waiting to be installed on the car.

@2.5x_sleeper Hey Bobby, yes I did! It was a real pain to do but it was worth it since I really wanted the 08/FSti look 🙂 I also thought about replacing that c pillar with black trim pieces but the blue looks good too.

@rei07 I've been looking for a couple of years for a set, but no luck finding a decent set at a recycler. I considered a new set, but could never get past the cost of a pair of these + new only come with unpainted ends. :(

Bobby...

@2.5x_sleeper That is quite expensive just for one side  And I am not quite sure how that worker ended up damaging them, that is really unfortunate.

My seats:

As it sits today:

That looks like one hell of a car! I actually had a questions about the frame. I bought a similar one in white (I believe it is an 08) from a family friend. I had no knowledge of it, other than it was a Subaru Forester Sport, and I knew it was a great deal for its condition and mileage. Someone mentioned to me later that this was a special edition due to the front grill of the car and that this was not the standard Subaru Forester Sport. Do you know anything more about this? I am on the fence if I want to sell or put the money in to restore it at this point.

@Dougiedoug123 Is it the XT or just the non-turbo? I don't think I've ever seen a white 2008 XT but regarding the front end, it is not too rare or special as far as I know since you could order them from an importer or from subaru.
