I made an Excel file that may help you wade through the myriad tire options out there for the Forester. This list is specifically for the US market. Other countries may not have some of these particular tires, and may in fact have other, better options available.

Contained in this file is every stock-size tire currently available through Tire Rack and Discount Tire, as well as a number of 17" and 18" tire sizes to suit a variety of wheel widths. All tire sizes listed are very close to the stock 215/60R16 rolling radius.

Experiment with the drop-down menus in the header to creatively sort based on your criteria, and the list will distill itself to your requirements. The default sort order is by tire size and tire category, and I have used several conditional formatting filters to help spice up the document visually and show some differentiators within each category.

I will be adding significantly to this over time, so feel free to make suggestions of specific tire models or sizes that you would like to see added to the document.

Hopefully someone will find this useful! :D

Thanks,
Jason Porter

P.S. - An excellent tool for in-depth and visual comparison of different tire sizes is the Miata.net Tire Calculator. There is a Java version and a link to the older non-Java version for those without the Java JRE. Give it a try!

Where are the Goodyear Assurance Triple Treads? :(
I only included H rated tires and above. I can include them if you'd like, but initially I only included tires at or above the stock speed rating.

You might also want to point out that it is for the US.

Not all countries will be able to get some of those tyres.

Some countries may have othere, better options. :)

Nice spreadsheet mang. The pulldowns are very useful. Maybe you can add the manufacturer's suggested wheel width?
I thought about that today on my way home from work. I will work on adding that column to the document. It will take some time though, Tire Rack's organizational format doesn't lend itself to easy tire spec comparisons. You have to open each tire through 2 page links to get to the specs.

A fair point....however the T speed rated size is only 1 size down from H (not many U speed rated tires that I know of) & still has a speed rating of 118 MP/H. Folks that are looking for a long mileage all season with good winter performance to compliment the Subi AWD system will be interested in knowing. I doubt many XT owners who take their vehicles to the track will put these on anyways as their primary tire. ;) I'd just put in brackets that is is T speed rated so that readers are aware.

The TT is available in an H speed rating in other sizes as well.

Excellent point. I will add it to the document in v1.1.

Updated with the TripleTreds and added recommended wheel width to the 17" and 18" sections.

I added a complete PlusZero section for those running 225/55R16. That section in particular should prove useful to me in the near future... :D :D

Things are turning to Spring all over Atlanta right now so it's beautiful.
It's good to see you getting into a Forester, found one yet?
Me? Just got the year end bonus today so it's time for a few upgrades to the wifes SF. Whiteline FSB and some new struts to go with a new set of Kumho KH16s. Happy wife = Happy man.

:Banane01: Sounds good Guy! Atlanta is beautiful this time of year. Sorry I'm missing it, but the 70 degree weather here in the mountains isn't too bad. :D

Picking up the Forester tomorrow in Ohio, '04 XT. I just finalized all of my arrangements today and insured it. Exciting times!

KYB GR2s on the SF? ;) Lisa will get 'em for you!
