Hey all I have a 99 Forester L, so it has drums in the rear. I would like some better performance and feel for my braking, what parts do I need to make it discs in the rear? Should I but slotted rotors? Can I swap the BB or MC in from an STI like you can with the newer Fozzies?

What do you all suggest, figure I will concentrate on braking and suspension rather than power:icon_biggrin:

Local mechanic wants $275 for the rear disc conversion including labor, is that reasonable? But I want a solid feel, not the spongy one I have now.

I've seen worse prices for brake work. Have you checked into getting the rear rotor brakes off of an S model of a similar year? I know my 1998 has disc brakes on the back, maybe check into finding an old S in a junkyard.
