Evening all,

The car is well overdue a service and I have some time off this week so I thought I would get it sorted.

I need to change the gearbox and diff oils as well as the standard engine stuff, is this a straight forward operation? The manual says it is, but it has lied to me in the past!

Garages are quoting me £300+ at the moment, which i'd really rather not pay.

Also, the manual tells me I need API GL-5 oil. I've done a quick search on google and all the sites that sell it seem to be American. Will my local car parts store know what this is, and would it be common enough to have in stock?

Any help would be gratefully received!

Cheers,

Tom.

Castrol Syntrax 75W/90 is GL-5 I seem to recall and is usually about £10-12 per litre from Halfords so availability isn't an issue.
