I was told the Factory Service manual for the 2014 Forester is broken down into over a dozen separate books, and they are over $1000 for the complete set....OR you can buy a 3 day subscription to to the Subaru Technical website for $35 and download the over 600 pdf files........but limited to 50 per hour...

WOW!!

There is a script floating around here somewhere that you can use to bypass the hourly download limit. A search for "service manual" should bring it up.

Been that way for a long time, nothing new.

Options:
1.) paper manuals at dealer, close to a $1,000. Through a supporting vendor here closer to the $600 range.
2.) Ebay. You get what you pay for. Likely a pirated manual. Probably not up to date.
3.) Subaru 3 day subscription for $35. Latest and most up to date you are going to get.

There is/are a few scripts out there that allow one to automate the download process, see link below.

I would highly recommend the $35 for the 3 day access to service manual. You don't really need to download the whole thing (unless you are doing major repairs). In a couple of hours I downloaded all the sections I would need to do light repairs, maintenance, trouble shooting and modifications. Very handy reference material.

You can also fetch TSBs and a few other random documents if you subscribe to the site. The FSM itself can be downloaded in about a day with a script. It's well worth $35.

The 2014 FSM is a little over 1,100 files.

The Factory TSB is worth it. Many aftermarket sources manage to screw things up and/or have very incomplete information in areas.
