Can anyone tell me if the FXT (MY03) has the same intercooler Y pipe as a similar age WRX... mine looks a bit tatty and I thought I'd spruce it up a bit with a Samco (or similar) set but can't find a specific listing for the FXT.

Also, is a WRX intecooler any different to a standard FXT one?

You need the samco kit for the 2006 2.5 WRX

pre MY06 WRX is different to an FXT intercooler.

MY06 WRX intercooler is similar but different Bypass valve arrangement .....

Wicked, thanks Don... a goldmine as ever!

Is a pre MY06 WRX intercooler any better than an FXT one? (spotted one while I was looking for the hoses).

The pre MY06 WRX intercooler is the same (with slightly different mounting brackets) as fitted to the FSTi .http://www.scoobymods.com/forester-sti-intercooler-t3593.html
Not as wide but taller, so uses a different rubber moulding on the bonnet undertray.
Northdowns is still using his original FSTi intercooler so are good for 360BHP.
AFAIK Alan Mac is still using his original FXT intercooler at 300BHP.

Just depends what you intend to do. I'm running an FSTi takeoff.

Currently, I just have a Green filter and a Bob Rawle remap.

However, I have a TD04L in the shed (debating a AFP04H hybrid ;o) and I will get a decat centre pipe and H&S backbox at some point (plus a re-remap from Bob after the mods). Target is 260 - 280bhp... 300 would be better though, I guess it depends on how many £60s I can get away with!

Sounds like the stock intercooler will do the job but I'll keep an eye on the WRX one and maybe swoop if it goes cheap enough.

Thanks for the info
