Hi,

I have the dreaded leaking cam cover issue going on so planning on ordering the gasket kit to do the job - full gasket replacement.

However what I can't find is the specific torque setting for the 6 bolts? Can you help?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

It is 10[Nm] each. Be careful with those bolts. It is easy to brake them.

And be sure you will replace 'half moons' as well.

Good luck :)

Hi Kontkret,

Thanks for the response, appreciate it.

One question, aren't the half moons part of the complete cam cover gasket? Or am I missing something fairly critical to the overall process..

Rgds

Hi,

Yeap, you missing smth :) The gasket is one thing and the so called 'half moons' is the other thing. The 'half moons' will fill the U-shape holes in the block.
The look like the one underneath:

If you want to get more info about the replace procedure my advice would be to read through the following post:
https://www.toronto-subaru-club.com/forums/technical-diy-write-ups-faq/169223-diy-valve-cover-gasket-replacement.html
and I put some additional info on my thread:

Any questions give me a shout :)
