I was searching online to try and add the roof rails for the 2010 Forester. I couldn't find anything that seemed to help. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find them or if they are even able to be mounted on a base model. Thanks
I'd skip roof rails and either buy the Subaru Carrier base kit which takes 10 minutes to mount and less time to remove (I have one) or a base and rack kit from Thule or Yakima. They all mount to the four "fixed point" mounts on the roof. They are under little plastic covers in the black molded gutter strips on each side of the roof.
Roof rails will require you to pull the headliner so you can drill mounting holes and install the rails-no fun at all.
Plus you're looking at something like $800 for the parts.
Just get the base kits, ideally from Thule or Yakima, they're a little more sturdy than the Subaru ones. Only downside is your crossbars are fixed in these cases.
