Well, a big 2'x4' flat box arrived via FedEx today, containing my RoadBlockR sound deadening material. Here's a link to it:

RoadBlockR | Automotive Sound Dampening, Car Soundproofing Mat

Paid $55.64 shipped for 16 square feet, which I thought was pretty good. The box was a little bent, and the sheets inside were too, but they straightened out just fine. This is just an introductory post, I'll get the review done after it warms up this next week and I install it.

Ordered on Tuesday night, arrived Friday. Not too shabby!

My goal is to cheaply and effectively cut down on the exhaust and road noise in the hatch. I also have a 10lb crate of Poly-Fill Fiberfill that I'll be stuffing the rear quarter panels with.

Nice, I think I paid 114$ or so for the bulk pack (9 sheets) from dynamat at amazon. Don't remember size tho.

Yeah, that sounds about right. The Bulk Pack is 36square feet @ $3.16 per square foot (plus shipping?).

RoadBlockR is $3.05 per square foot shipped, and is a tad bit thicker. We'll see how it does.

Rick races fast cars now. He dropped the FXT/Miata for a 350z and got a V8 Tundra to tow it.

Keep us updated! Looking to soundproofing this year! Though.. I have to admit that it's kind of nice to be able to hear all the sounds of the car to prevent catastrophic failure before it happens.

Rick quoted me something like $180 for enough RAAMmat and Ensolite to do an ENTIRE Forester.

I should give him a call again. It's been a long time.

lol thats what I meant. I hadn't heard of anyone using their product since he left, although they always seemed to have incredibly competitive prices, I wondered if raammat was even being made anymore?

I would have but the webside gave some expensive shipping costs. Heavy stuff :icon_sad:

Alrighty guys, got my 16sqft installed today, with about 1.5sqft left over. I stuffed the hell out of the quarter panels with pillow stuffing (Poly-fil) as well as the hatch. I mean, I stuffed until it was practically oozing out of holes and seams, and no more would go in. Took extra care to keep it away from the lock mechanism in the hatch though.

Overall impression? HOLY CRAP. :icon_eek: Amazing. It is *almost* as quiet as it was stock, but lets me hear the rumble. Before, it was borderline headache-causing (not droning, but it was like being in a drum). I did NOT cover the entire hatch like some do, I used a combination of methods. Over the muffler area, I used full coverage. However, in other places, I only used smaller pieces to kill the resonance as it moves through the metal. Better explanation here:

Sound Deadener Showdown - Your Source for Sound Deadening Products and Information

My hatch now shuts with a desirable 'thump', much more solid than my stemom's Volvo or the liftgate on dad's ///M Coupe. It makes the Fozzy's hatch feel like a tin can. The back of the car is almost silent, except for the rumble. Really, really wanting to do my doors now. I'll have to wait until I get some more cash, but for anyone who is debating on whether or not to try it, I say go for it. Best $70 total I ever spent (including the Poly-Fil, which I still have a crapload of).

Pics are posted here in my member's journal:
