I have a 2000 Forester that the O2 sensors and the cat was replaced around 135k miles by the previous owner. I just had both O2 sensors (A/F and rear sensor) replaced with Denso brand that I bought surprisingly cheap on Amazon. Car had 291k miles at time of replacement. Took a 300 mile trip after picking the car up. Power is way up. Mileage is up. Did 100 miles on 1/8 of a tank. I will start calculating more accurately.

Moral of the story, replace you 02 sensors if you mpg and power is down.

Yup I replaced mine preventative. They are cheap relatively and easy to get to.

First fill up. Went from 20 to 21 mpg. First fill up after hot footing it the last 10 miles home was 26.1 mpg. I have never had that high of fuek economy. The new sensors are worth it.

For fuel efficiency and throttle response the upstream A/F O2 Sensor is the only one that needs to be replaced.
