I always liked the Haynes books better than Chiltons, but they don't seem available for the 2009 on Foresters. You can go to Subaru.com and set up a MySubaru account. Then go to the technical support, subscribe for three days for $35, then download the shop manual. The only cathc is that it is broken down into almost 1,000 individual PDF's. They also time you out every 50 downloads an hour. It is rather tedious, but you can get real manual which is probably better than even the Haynes books.
