Anyone on here having a problem with rear tailgate ? Cos i find SF5 forester tailgate opening too low especially on the side ! Got a few cut and bruise on my head. All suspension is normal with no sagging butt and the road tyre is normal size and I'm only 5'11" tall.

Is there a way to increase the height of the tailgate by fitting a longer strut ?

The struts is fine and open the tailgate fully extended with no problem but I find it too low. So i wonder if the tailgate can open up higher ?

if you take the struts off then the tailgate will go up a little bit further, but the struts are at their maximum as standard.

I think its more to do with the shape of the rear door side than the height it opens, as i've put a few v-shaped dents in my head from the sides.

I have a few scars to show from it too. Last one was right on the temple. I didn't cry, the missus was watching(laughing).

You only bash your head regularily for the first 18months, after that it drops to only about once a month....

5'10" here, I think taller people are better off as the tailgate edges are closer to your eyeline!
