UPDATE: Rear bumper cover clips

Hello Everyone,

Car is a base model '17 Forester, MT6.

I think I am missing clips from the rear bumper cover that secure the cover to the wheel well plastic liners.

I am looking at adding a tow hitch, and was checking out videos on how to remove the rear bumper cover.
The video showed the removal in detail, starting with the removal of clips that secure the rear bumper cover.
My car does not have some of those clips! The hole is there in the cover, and in the liner, but no clips. The liner is a bit loose.

I went to the dealer to check this out, and they said there are no clips in this model.
They showed me some part pictures on their computer screen, and that did not look like my car, there were no holes in the liner and in the cover.
I think they are wrong!

Any one could clear this up? (There are clips in the front wheel liners!)

Thanks, Peter

Hello Everyone,

Just a quick update.
I installed a Curt hitch on the car, and in the process I removed the rear bumper cover.

As it turn out the "holes" in the rear wheel liner are wedge shaped slots, so a clip there would not do any good.
Probably that is the reason that there are no clips installed there.

There are two extra clips, compared to the video, at the top end of the bumper cover, to the rear wheel liner.
Those destructed when removed, I need new ones for there.

Regards, Peter
