Here is one for the group: I have an 01 S model with a trailer hitch. It looks (AND SOUNDS) like the muffler's right side is vibrating up against the hitch. Anyone have any cheap and easy solutions? I thought it might have been a heat shield based on other posts, but I've been able to isolte the rattle to this area.

The muffler has a little wiggle room, but how can I keep it away from the hitch?

Hmm, I think I had it the other way around on my car. My trailer hitch was a bit loose so when I had a trailer on it keeped moving up and down a bit.
Tightening up the bolts did the trick tho.
Not sure about your problem.

I had the same issue with my U-Haul hitch. I simply spaced the hanger out with a few washers (the hanger on mine was relocated and attached to the hitch with a long bolt) and trimmed back the hanger on the muffler with a hack saw about 1/4".

Leave it to a Massachusetts man to solve it. I'm in Kansas but grew up just west of Worcester (Spencer). I'll try to washers trick and reconfigure the hanger.
