Another slight variation on the will these wheels fit theme but worth asking if only for completeness

Got an option on some 18" Prodrive PFF7's in bright flitter. As far as I can find out they are 8" with ET51.
Will they fit ok on my 06 FXT with Prodrive 320 BBK ?

Many Thanks
Pete

*should* fit ok. I'd fit & spin one side just to check clearances. Wouldn't advise over profile rubber as there may not be loads of room to the strut..

Cheers Steve - what size tyres would you recommend to avoid rubbing and keep within tolerance ?

On the tyre calculator jobby the closest I could get to match the 17" oem was 235/45/18 or 225/45/18 I think..altho most people seem to be running 225/40/18 ??

Many thanks
Pete

Got a nice detailed reply from Mike Wood at Prodrive so I thought I would copy it below for info..

btw I tried an 18" PFF7 Et51 with 225/40/18 tyre on my car yesterday and whilst it seemed to fit ok it looked pretty ridiculous without a drop in height so I'm back on the trail for a suitable 18" wheel (not too keen on the P1 or GC5) with ET48 which I can fit a 235/45/18 tyre to.

The wheels fit over the brakes, as do all of our current 17 & 18" options, the only problem is that the offset of the wheels puts the tyre too close to the rear struts.

With a 235/40ZR18 Pirelli the tyre is about 3mm way from the strut but this tyre is quite narrow in the sidewall compared to most as well as being too small in diameter. Our recommended tyre is a 235/45ZR18 which are a little wider, in fact thay are as wide when fitted to a 7.5" wheel as the 235/40 is fitted to an 8" rim.

Current options we have available in 18" are 7.5 x 18" P-WRC1 ET46 (as 02-04 STi) in either crytal titanium or rally gold and our new lightweight forged GC-05F which is 8 x 18" ET46 in metallic silver (similar to WR1 colour) I'll probably be fitting these on my 06MY 2.5XT when it arrives.

Yeah I like those especially in British Black but they are USA only..

Currently got my eye on these - Rota ROTA GRA (Tarmac II) 18x7.5 et48
Gunmetal with Polished Face

What tyres would you guys recommend in 235/45/18 ? Don't believe Toyo do one in this size :(

Now fitted :)

Went for the PFF7's in the end fitted with 225/45/18 Toyo Proxes T1r's.
Didn't need a spacer but was tight on the back strut !

Looks great !

I'm intrigued that Mike says that 235/45 will fit, I'd decided that 235/40 would just fit but that extra little bit of depth on 235/45 would be better for the ride.

Do you know which 235/45-18 Mike was talking about, the list seems to be pretty small: Conti Sport Contact or Michelin Pilot Primacy...

Decisions decisions - at least I've got the wheels...

Tom, what size tire are you running. I've got 225/45-17 on my STI suspension. I can't decide if I actually have room for 245/45-17s or not.

Tom,

What offset are your prodrives and how much negative camber are you running? It appears I'm down to millimeters here to figure out if they will fit.

Sorry for the threadjack. Tom, could you post in my other thread right around this one?

Thanks,
