Hi all,
I want to change the pcv on my n/a 04 2.5xs forester, but the pcv is screwed into an adapter fitting on the block. I have tried to unscrew the the pcv using a 3/8 breaker bar with the 19mm deep socket with no luck, don't want to break the fitting. Anyone have any experience and or tips to get it out?

Peaty,tried it both ways and seems unusually tight, don't want to break the adapter fitting. Wondering why the pcv is not screwed directly into the block and the need for the adapter...is this a factory installation?

why do you need to change it? It usually doesn't go bad that soon and you would know if it went bad. You don't have to replace it but you can simply check by blowing to it both ways. If it stops you one way than it's working fine. I never had to replace mine on a WRX that I had for 92k miles.

Spray some PB Blaster on it and let it sit an hour then i bet it'll come off.
