I just bought a 2010 forester and need to turn off the passive alarm. I read the manual and did the hold unlock for 10 seconds and the display read "al off". But if i leave my car unlocked for 2 minutes or so, the car chirps and then the alarm is activated. This is incredibly annoying in situations like a gas station and my garage. Does anyone know if I can deactivate this myself or do i have to have a dealer do it.

If you are talking about the Perimeter Alarm (OEM option) then you need to take it to the dealer as you need the "Subaru Select Monitor" to adjust the settings. Hope this helps you, although I am not sure of what you are talking about. If you have this and purchased it with the FOZ from the dealer they should be able to help you for no charge.
