I had the unfortunate task this weekend of replacing a front ball joint on an 09 Forester that spent a decade in the northeast. One of the first things that happened was the pinch bold attaching the ball joint to the steering knuckle sheared off. The steering knuckle is currently sitting in a machinist shop, and they should be drilling the rest of the bolt out Monday.

Meanwhile, the new ball joint (a Beck/Arnley) didn't come with a replacement pinch bolt.

Does anyone have a part number, or the specs so I can see if a local hardware store has one? I'd call the local dealer's parts department but they're closed today. Is that something they'll likely have in stock, or will I need to buy the OEM ball joint?

When I replaced the ball joints on my on my 08 Outback I went with MOOG K9513 because it came with a replacement bolt. Watching the tech dismantle, heat and hammer on it made me glad I wasn't doing the job.
