There are several other threads in the forum suggesting that a P2097 code could mean the front O2 sensor is due for replacement. If you were planning to replace something, why not start with the front O2 sensor?
The front O2 sensor does not last forever - 100k miles is a good lifespan. It is critical to the running of the engine. The replacement can be a DIY job - good for a few skinned knuckles, but not much worse than that.
The general consensus is that the OEM sensor if much preferred to the Bosch aftermarket product.
