I've been searching around to see if anyone knows what size the oil drain plug is yet? I didn't see it in the owners manual and was hoping to order a new fumoto valve prior to taking delivery. Sounds like it will be a way easier oil change with the filter on top than it is with my MY10 X. I have burns/scars all over my hand from the exhaust manifold. I do however love having the fumoto on my '10.

How about ow much of a pain in the rear will it be to remove the plastic "shield" or whatever to get to the dang plug?

I have no idea yet on the size or anything. I'm still waiting on my XT to be delivered. I emailed fumoto engineering and they didn't know yet either. I've been kinda waiting it out until some of the first owners have their first oil change.

It should be the same as the BRZ, whatever that is.
Most Subarus use a M20-1.5.

Sorry if I missed it somewhere, but was the FXT FA20 2.0 drain plug thread confirmed?

Fumoto has two:
F-108: 16mm-1.5
F-105: 20mm-1.5

The BRZ uses the F-108 which should be the same as FXT (16mm-1.5)?

Thanks for the Link...I still think that plastic is rediculous but whatever...By the way has anyone seen any service info on the CVT's? Fluid, intervals and how to check/drain?

I think the under tray on the XT's is aluminum now.

I think the under tray on the XT's is aluminum now.
It has a small under tray to protect the turbo, but it's not a skid plate type thing. It still is fairly small.

There is no plastic cover on the 2.0 XT- the drain plug is 14mm head size. Just be careful when you change the oil- the pan is painted black and the factory crush ring is also painted black and can stick to the plug. I missed this on my first oil change and installed a second crush ring which caused a leak. Had to drain the new oil to correct the problem. Installed a single crush ring and the leak was cured. I am not the only dummy who has had this problem- live and learn.

After looking underneath my new XT.....wow. Be carefull if you change your own oil. The oil pan is tucked underneath the exhaust manifold with the drain plug sticking down right beside the bottom half of said exhaust. Don't burn yourself! Also the metal plating....looks like 1/8 inch. I'm guessing steel (the exposed metal front portion as well as rearward black painted). The front portion primarily protecting the turbo and the rearward protecting the exhaust manifold (plus heat shield.)

Has anyone confirmed size yet?

It's been a minute and I think several people have had their first oil change. I've see a few mentions of size. I'm still waiting for my XT to come in so I don't know. I bought an F108 16mm fumoto but I saw a post about someone saying it's a 14mm. Now I'm thinking it's a F-106 14mm-1.5?

The plug "head" size is 14mm....otherwise I have no idea what the 1.5 means. Also I read somewhere that the Fumoto valve takes a long time to drain the oil and as a result leaves all kinds of crap in the oil pan. I'll just turn the wrench.

1.5 is the thread pitch- a 1.0 pitch won't thread into a 1.5 and vice-versa. Regarding the Fumoto valve, they don't take a long time to drain at all, and I generally remove about 1/2 the threads, maybe a bit more. The bung on the pan is only about 1/4" thick, maybe 3/8" so the extra threads are unnecessary. I've had one on every Subaru I've owned an a Honda I used to work on regularly.

People have long said that the depth of the Fumoto valves prevent you from getting all the oil out of the pain. It is a negligible amount, but there could be contaminants in there you'd like to have drain out.

Removing some of the depth makes the valve sit flush with the bottom of the inside of the pan when you tighten it down. I have one to go into my 2014 Forester when I do the first change.
