Oil Change Interval w/ Mobil 1

I am an experienced "car guy" and use Mobil 1 Extended Performance/Fram Ultra synthetic oil filter and change my oil at 15k on a Nissan Armada and a Jeep Commander. Have had absolutely no engine issues with either vehicle over period of +5 years on Armada, +10 years on Commander. Just bought 2012 Forester and all I see is Subaru "mandating" the oil be changed every 7500 miles with synthetic oil. Is there some reason the boxer Subaru motors need 7500 mile oil changes?

My first inclination is to put the Forester on a 15k schedule with the above described products.

What say you Subaru pros?!

Well, I’m not a Subaru pro but I’ve been doing oil changes on Volvo for ages and Subaru for the last three years. I’d stay away from anything Fram. See Bob the oil guy web stuff.

Like you , mobile 1 synthetic is my choice of oil (alternate between high mileage synthetic and extended service one) as well as Shell/Pennzoil pure platinum (on occasion).
I change Volvo 4x/year due to mileage covered and Subaru 2x/year (Mobil 1 synthetic exclusive) as it is a10k km per year car. Use Subaru filter from Japan (dealer, WRX filter) and use Mahle or Mann for Volvo.

Just my 2cents and I hope it helps.

Nothing special about Mobil 1. I have done three 10000 mile drain intervals on 2 different 08 Subarus. But before going there do an oil analysis at 7500 miles.

I think all manufacturers' engineers set up extra often maintenance schedules just because.

Since you're an experienced car guy you could keep to what's worked for your vehicles.
I do frequent oil changes with conventional oil and that's worked for my experienced cars.

Your first post, welcome to the forum - hope you stay around.
Fram Ultra is a synthetic filter and significantly better quality than their base filters. If you stay away from Fram, you'll have to stay away from Subaru OEM filters too.
