Recently i bought a 10/2009 Forester 2 ltr . I would like to change the * break in * oil for a Kendall GT1 5W-40 oil.
The car has 8500 Km
Normally the oil interval change is at 15000 km according schedule. Do i have to wait for the 15000 or can i change oil now or at just over 10.000 km ?

Kind regards from NL

I would have thought that the break-in oil would have be changed at it's first check up... in the UK, they normally do a fluid check etc after about 1000 miles (approx. 1600km).

Break-in oil is usually very thin and only used for a few hundred miles so I'm a bit surprised that the standard change schedule is for 15000 km if it is using break-in oil.

I wouldn't think it would be a problem to change it for a decent synthetic 5W40 oil.

Didn't think so either, but wasn't 100% sure
