Was just browsing Japan Parts and came across this, I didn't even know this existed. Has anyone actually bought one on here? The pictures on the site are apparently from a dude in the US as per the review but I can't find ANY info or any more pictures of this.

can't post actual link because I'm new but here is somewhat the link :frown2: :

japanparts.com/parts/detail/42816

I can post pics at least. They look sooo goood.

Is it an add-on or total rear bumper replacement? btw, I think it won’t work with the STi rear under spoiler.
Its an add on to your existing with clips and double sided tape, no it probably wont work with the STI diffuser but if you have this why would you need that :D

Agreed! I find the stock bumper already looking quite busy with all the angles, joints and lines. And yes, the middle diffuser part would be nice on its own.

I found a pic where someone modified to not have the big chrome exhaust surrounds, looks even better this way.

I hope someone is planning to make a cheaper alternative of this please :D

Yep, doesnt appear to be able to work with many aftermarket exhausts so be prepared to cut it up(?).

An interesting idea, but I'm set with my TS replication route. I'll bet you shipping is going to be more than the part costs if someone does buy it though :)

Since I'm eyeing up the dual tip nameless axleback muffler deletes and will need to trim my bumper anyway, I may take on a little bumper project :)

I just need to find a junked one from a salvage yard or ebay (just hate the idea of shipping costs). Essentially, my plan will be to take the diffuser section and exhaust heat shield outlets from a WRX/STI and insert them into a modified bottom section of the forester bumper. If I can find a spare DGM rear cover.. then done! If not.. I will have to brave loping off the 'bottom' unpainted portion of my current bumper and either epoxying it on or popping some rivets through.

I'll probably take the next 5-6 months to work through this, but I'l be sure to do a write up if I take it on. Another consideration is I need to install a tow hitch so idk how the bottom diffuser will go with that.

All in all though, some DIY time/elbow grease + spare parts will easily put me under the absurd price of that jdm bumper. For some reason though these carbon fiber parts are expensive as hell! APR Carbon Fiber Rear Bumper Exhaust Finishers - 2015+ WRX / 2015+ STI

Can't access the direct link at work, but this site makes a body kit. You can buy just the rear bumper. I'm probably going to get the hood :)

For 1650? No thanks :) That's exactly how I want it to look when I'm done, but only spending 1/3 of the price. Find a spare forester bumper (optional really) and a spare WRX/STI bumper for the diffuser + a saw and epoxy + a full weekend = done!
