As I've previously read on the forum, there is concern regarding the mounting hardware for the OEM aerobars. The concern is that anybody with a Torx-30 head screwdriver and 10 minutes, can steal your aerobars and anything mounted to them such as a Thule or Yakima box or in my case, a ski carrier. The funny thing about that is my ski carrier has a lock on it but my aerobars don't!
The original bolts are M6 x 1.0 x 55mm and of course T-30 head but I just ordered a bulk of the following security bolts that will fit the 2009-2010 Forester. M6 x 1.0 x 60mm with a T-30 security head. Slightly long but not an issue.
The security screw look like this triple www dot spaenaur.com/view_pdf.asp?Page=B136
It's not a guarantee but it will help. Anyway, LSS......I will have some for sale in the coming week in case somebody wants to buy some for their OEM Forester Aerobars. I had to buy in bulk because they wouldn't sell them individually.
