Just wanted to say hello. I currently have a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon but have started looking at Subaru’s. In fact, my first car ever was a 1978 Subaru wagon. It was 10 years old at the time, but I drove the heck out of it. Since then my family owner several and I had a 2013 Outback before getting into Wranglers. I have never really used the capability of the Wrangler and would more prefer the mpg and highway manners of a Subaru combined with the awd for off roading. I’m sorta thinking about finding a gently used XT Forester since they seem like they would be fun to drive. I’m not set on it, but hopefully this is the right place to come to find out any weaknesses and get other info.

Interesting... reminds me of years ago, when my old Ford Bronco finally danced its last dance, and I was trying to decide between replacing it with a Forester or a Jeep. Both seemed to suit my needs and my personality in their own way, and one Saturday I went out shopping. I was going to hit a few Jeep dealerships, a few Subaru dealers, and get a feel for what was out there and how the different vehicles each "felt" to me.

On the way to my first stop - a Subaru dealership - I passed 2 fairly late-model Jeeps broken down on the side of the interstate, in less than a 20-mile stretch. I'm not exactly saying that clinched the matter for me, but 4 hours later I was the proud owner of a 2001 Forester. And I've never looked back.
Well, I am now the owner of a 2019 Forester Sport. Drove an SJ XT and liked it but the newer interior sold me on it. The CVT tuning seems to make the most out of the non turbo 2.5 and performance felt pretty close.
