I am thinking of purchasing a 2005 a Forester XT with AT transmission and wanted to know what are realistic numbers for hp & tq gains after doing a simple swap of Sti turbo, Sti TMIC and ecu or ecu tech flash? Can the automatic tranny handle the gain in power? And as a follow up question bring a noob, am I better off looking for a manual transmission forester?

I am not trying to build a race car just want a powerful and gun forester to drive.
Thank you in advance for any help and knowledge I gain from replies.

If you add in a down pipe you could see between 250-280+ awhp, depends a lot on the dynon & fuel. You'd have more power than a stock STi though.

The 4EAT is a strong transmission, it wouldn't have any issues with an STi turbo. A few guys on here are running 400whp or so on it! I threw an aftermarket tranny cooler on my auto Baja just for some added piece of mind.
