First let me say I'm a newbie on this site and thank you all in advance for your help with the problem the wife is experiencing with her 2007 Forester.

The heating system appears to have a problem with the "blending". The floor vents and "outside" dash vents work great, but there is almost no air movement through the defroster vents or center vents of the car. The temperature control is working fine.

Where is the "blend door" and how do I access it to free it up. Or do these cars have some other issues that could cause this problem. I have no problem turning a wrench, so I would like to attempt a fix before paying the dealer.

Thanks in advance for all your help and have a safe and happy 2010.

My suber is not very good on that area either (08) My experience with many cars is that its an Either/Or. I use the Defrost (A/C) on or the Console vents. I use the Console vents 95% of the time.

Found the problem.

The control cable slips off the plastic "door controller" under the dash by the driver's right knee.

I now just have to figure out a good method of securing the cable.

The car has 38K miles, so it's out of warranty.

Happy 2010!
