Subaru has issued a new brake fluid. The parts department guy tried to tell me it was only a superseded part number. They’re putting new part number stickers on old bottles.

It’s a new formula. ??

  1. Yes. DOT3 and it’s compatible with the old fluid. Subaru changed or added color to it for a reason. Strange thing is, the old part number brake fluid was not water clear.

  2. I’m trying to get a hold of the new bottle. I also thought it was deceitful to put a hand written paper sticker with the new part number over the old.

  3. You can use and mix either one but I would appreciate honest information.

Meh, been running DOT 4 now for the last 4 years. My other 2 vehicles need DOT 4 so for the sake of uniformity and simplicity, I use DOT 4 in everything.
