I've scanned several pages of this board, but can't find any information on this subject. Has anyone tried swapping a newer Forester transmission into the MY07? Having sportshift would be a nice addition...

I think you are going to find this to be a very tough nut to crack.

The auto trannies on the 06/07 are tightly integrated to the TCM.
The TCM is tightly integrated to the ECM.

In 06/07 Subaru was just starting to dip it's toes into the CANBUS communication world. So if you look at the schematics in the manual for ECM I/O you will see there are actually a few CAN I/O signals taking place.
What they actually do, I am not sure, but they are there.

Now, ALL of the newer trannies are in cars that are exclusively CANBUS and therefore almost certainly are not interchangeable with OBDII cars without switching every harness and module in the car.

CANBUS is much more involved, it is also used to alert the driver of relatively trivial things like turn signal bulbs being burnt out etc... So, mixing and matching is almost certainly not going to happen.

Would be nice, but probably cost prohibitive unless you feel like a MAJOR undertaking.
