About $100 cf sheet 1.5 m x 2 m, , uhmm should be enough to cover "Stan_t" mould lol.

1500mm wide roll of Carbon Fibre Fabric for projects requiring a very large piece of carbon fabric. This huge 1500mm wide is specially woven for us to meet the specialist requirments of projects like vehicle bonnets or roofs where a very wide piece of fabric is required to do the job in one span. Price is per linear meter. Please enter the quantity of linear metres you require. (1 linear meter of this roll will provide 1.5sqm of fabric).

To get this moving I contacted this morning a guitar case cf maker, cool vid: Test Videos

Hello,

Would you be interested in making a carbon fiber light weight moonroof plug for the Subaru community and specifically for the Forester, then you could tap into other Subarus: the Impreza/BRZ/Outback s, here is our thread: http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f80/moonroof-delete-plug-fabrication-crowdsourced-113882/

Our moonroof is huge and heavy, some of us wanna be racers want the glass deleted and still maintain a functional moonroof with a cf substitute.

^guitar case guy is a no go, contacted Chaser now. I like the functionality of light kevlar vs carbon fiber, yellow tint is odd but I prefer function over form, another alternative would be dry carbon but is more expensive than the typical wet carbon.

Neat video on vacuum infusion, wish I had the time.

Wow I missed this I was not subscribed to my own thread, great news. I should get in touch with Dickie's, I have a spare moonroof assembly.

Funny, I was just watching this in the AM for a future DIY project.

EpoxAmite® Used to Create Carbon Fiber Composite Parts

Dickie, when & how much? Other people on this forum have promised to work on this but have not delivered; hopefully you are serious about it.

I have a donor complete with glass moonroof assy to make the mold, I ran into a HG issue and shortly after a health issue, I am recovering from both and should be able to tackle this in a couple of months.

If it helps, I'm the sales GM for N.A.'s 3rd largest weatherstrip supplier, so I might know a guy who knows a guy about getting seals...same as OEM...

I'm asking a fabricator about making one in cf and swing how many we'd need for a group buy and what price point.

Mine cracked in -12f weather today, but I might have been powering up some twisty hills...

Put me down for 1...

Can we use a donor moonroof, remove the seal and make a mold for that?
Then glue the seal back on and mount it back as stock functionality?

Also, if you guys are going cf, will the layers be built in a cross weave as there is a bunch of stress to crack the glass in the first place?

If you need seals I could surely look into that to help.
Heck I could ask Subaru who the moonroof maker is and find their seal supplier.

^Another forum member and I are planning to make a few sets to recover the initial investments, we already have the donor moon-roof and plan to remove seal to make the mold, his expertise is with Kevlar so probably will use a combination of both fabrics for added strength.

I'm in for both. Someone just needs to get ahold of me when they are done as I'm not on here much anymore.
