I just bought a case of 5W30 Mobil 1 synthetic. I noticed it is GL4 and doesn't say energy conserving on it. Is there a problem using this oil in the XT or GL3 just a minimum. Is 5W30 Mobil 1 full synthetic all the same, or are there different types?

I think the variety that doesn't have the energy conserving label is the Mobil 1 Extended Performance or something like that? Supposedly you can go longer between the oil change intervals, but I haven't tried it for myself.

I would stick w/ the standard Mobil 1 for now...when your FXT gets older than I would consider using the other stuff. I am just about at 40K and have been using Mobil 1 since first oil change.

Its fine, because it has the "starburst" on it

Mobil 1 synthetic has "energy conserving" on it

Mobil clean has "energy conserving" on it also

I'm not sure about XT's oil requirements but.. for mine:

Thanks, I noticed it said one or the other today. Upon my initial skim I thought it needed to say both.
