Hey guys,

I'm looking to lower my '01 Forester. Found some 2004 STi takeoffs (struts, slings and tophats) for a good price. Only thing I'm hesitant is the mileage on them; 75,000 miles.

Should they still be good for the next little bit? The struts on my Foz now have 165,000 miles so they're due for an update.

Thanks,
Ben

That's fairly high mileage and they may be a little tired at this point... don't overpay for them. The 2004 STi struts (at least the rears) were pretty clunky to begin with and you might want to tear them apart and re-grease them (pretty good how-to write-up here).

That's what I kinda thought too. They seem to be in pretty good shape in the picture. Of course you can't tell if they've seized up/leaking from a picture but anyways.

If I do go for them and rebuild them, as per your thread reference, what do you think would be a good price?
