Car has had maintenance done (brakes, CV axles), usual issues fixed (wheel bearings), plus others (drive shaft and exhaust)....but the HG are probably leaking and will need replaced in the next 25K miles.

Plus they're asking RETAIL for a private party ad. I'd get the HG inspected ($1500 repair) and see how bad the rust is and offer $3500 if the HG are OK (not likely) and it's not a rust bucket. If it's rusty and the HG are due, it's a $1K car.

did you read the linked ad? he says the HG was done at 90000 and some other stuff the OP didnt copy and paste.

5000$ is too much. Just because he threw money into a pit doesnt mean he gets it back at sale time.

I don't see where it states HG was done....just the T-belt and WP:

Hello, I'll be receiving a company car in the upcoming weeks. This Subaru Forester has only been specifically driven in winter due to the other cars I've had. Quite low mileage at 113,00 as of now but it will continue to climb as it's currently driven daily.

The previous owner had a new timing belt and water pump done at 90,000 miles so that is good up to 180,000 miles. He also replaced the rear fuel filler neck for the fuel tank, which is a big problem with these cars.

I purchased the car at 102,000 miles and have performed the following maintenance/repairs

105,000 miles

New Front left/right axles (napa lifetime warranty) $205.20

The car drives straight, smooth, and is incredible in the winter time. Myself and the previous owner have always used full synthetic so you can expect the engine to last a very very long time. In the summer when I needed to drive it I received 30-32 mpg and currently 25-27mpg in the winter time.

Clean and clear title in hand with no liens. NO SPAM OR SCAMMERS PLEASE!!!

I don't see anything about the head gaskets, but I would have expected them to have been replaced by the previous owner.

If you want this Forester, I'd recommend having a prepurchase insepction & decided if you still want it after you get the report.

Driven all winter, and it sat covered in salt all summer...

It's not worth it.

Axles make since, they wear out
Bearings are normal
drive shaft, maybe. There are reports of them failing...
Front pads make since, my rear's had 200K+ when I changed them and still looked good....

Rear break lines and exhaust? :N_poke:
