2015 NA 65K miles. Low fuel warning light lit, 100yds later engine revved and quit. Was on cruise, heading up gentle hill on interstate. AAA brought me 2 gallons. Fired right up. 3 miles later I filled, but only was able to put in 12 gallons. 12+2 = 14. Drove home. Topped off this AM with under 4 gallons at my local normal pump. this would be the amount I used driving home.

Low fuel warning stayed lit after the 2 AAA gallons. Bars dropped to 1.

So that was embarrassing. ;)

Put in a jug of dry gas today when I topped off. My concern is do I have crud in my tank that needs attention?
I sure think I have put more than 14 gallons in it in the past.

Second concern is can I trust my fuel gauge? Suggestions other than don't run out?

not sure on this one. I've driven about 50 miles more than a couple times after the light has come on. That's usually where I put the limit as I believe the light is supposed to come on with 2.5 gallons left.

Fuel system reporting is almost never accurate, but I've noticed that on an uphill incline, the fuel available sometimes isn't.
The pickup is in the front and the fuel on an uphill incline goes to the back, especially when accelerating.
It's a good idea to get fuel when your down to 1/4...

Yeah. I have run 30-40 miles after indicator light. This time I didn't get an indicator. Once I got out of the travel lane and stopped hyperventilating :) I cranked it, nothing. You would think if it were due to hill only It would have fired or sputtered. I am more concerned about having 2 gallons of fuel in the tank and the car not running.

Thanks for replies.

Bumping this. Have not had any reoccurrence. I think the most I have pumped is 11 gallons. Try a jug of dry gas, that might have helped. Once it gets warm again I will toss a 2 gallon can and a funnel in and run it lower.
