Thanks for the link...I used this site back in 2002 to gather info on our Outback
purchase. This guy does a great job of providing info. In your opinion do you think the Forester is prone to rattles and squeeks? The Forester seems to be hard to beat when it comes to being an all around performer.
I think you will find that people who have owned both the Outback and Forester will say the quality of the Outback is greater than the Forester.
When the SH series first came out in 09 there were plenty of issues with rattles in the doors and other nuisances. That being said in true Subaru form they were addressed quickly and many either took the dealer fix or went about in true Subaru owners form and fixed the issues themselves.
Not that I would not encourage members of newer models to contribute to this thread, but we do have the really great Google Forum Search feature which will turn up plenty of related topics to your questions which is probably going to have more varied responses. The latest issue on the 2011 that would not cause me any worry since I know they worked on it immediately and already have a solution is http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f88/cold-start-timing-chain-rattle-2011-dohc-86380/
If you were happy with your Outback then its safe to say you like the Subaru's characteristics. The new SH improves on rear leg room over the SG model as well as many other improvements and while the styling of the SH did not appeal to me in the beginning, the small styling tweaks they have performed makes it appeal to me more that I know a new Forester will be in my future at some time.
I have considered a certified pre owned RDX. The Forester has a huge sun roof,
better ground clearence and more head room. The RDX is supperior when it comes to sophistication. The Forester XT does have some advantages over the RDX.
Yeah your right there it does have a bigger sunroof and a few more inches of ground clearance but man that RDX is sweet. I was looking at the RDX yesterday and couldn't believe ho much more comfortable it was to sit in then the forester and Im 6'1" and headroom wasnt an issue. Just the quality of interior components like the dash and doors, leather seats, stereo heck even the paint on them sadly put the forester to shame. I love my Forester don't get me wrong but it just seems to be cheaply built compared to the Acura. And if I was going to spend 30k on a car id want the most for my money.

This Preowned Acura comes with a 12 mo 12,000mi extension to the 4-year / 50,000 the factory warranty and a 7ya 100,000 power train warranty so essentially its new in terms of warranty and only about a grand more ..
er, I guess that goes to show that subaru really over charges for the craptastic touring/nav package. if you're willing/able to spend 30+ frankly i wouldn't consider the subie at all; you're right the rdx is much more appealing
I'm new here... and its because im wondering about to buy a Forester XT from 2006 to 2010.
I found a "great condition" FXT 2010 with 88000 miles... but my mechanic (and subaru specialist) advised me to run away from this based on the bearing and lubrication problems with these late...
Just bought another Subaru today:grin2: 2019 Blue Forester Sport for my daughter. MSRP = $32,982. Invoice = $30,474. Price Paid = $28,474...$2000 off invoice. Went shopping today, not expecting to buy anything. Looked at the Forester, GMC Terrain, Honda CRV and Honda Pilot. The Forester...
I would like to compile all the 2019+ Forester specific aftermarket parts to make modifying our Foresters a little easier. Please post links to products I have missed.

Forester was not even on my list when I began searching for a new car.
The automobiles that were at the top of my list were Kia Sorento, Honda CR-V, Honda Passport, Infiniti Q50, VW Tiguan, and Hyundai Santa Fe. My preference would be never ever own a CVT transmission.
Hi there, I'm about to look at a 2019 Forester Sport at a dealer and was wondering what to look out for before I actually get it. And if I get it, what do I check before driving it off the lot.
I'd appreciate any tips. So far these are the only ones I can think of.
