Original owner of a 2004 Forester with 134,000 mi. It has taken me on many adventures in the Western U.S. and no trip is complete without enjoying at least a bit of dirt roads. It has had a minor HG problem for a few years and a couple other repairs that are recommended but completely safe to just monitor. I have decided to put money into a new Forester and enjoy a little extra room and safety features. Hoping to wait for '20 or '21 but needed repairs or the excitement of a new car may get the best of me. Lots of great info here!
