Hey all,
New to these forums as I have been having a problem with my 2012 Forester 2.0D Premium Manual Transmission. Has about 110,000 km
Pretty much, sometimes when accelerating, the car starts jumping/shuddering forward. It feels like the engine is losing power and then regaining it very quickly repeatedly almost as if it is starting to stall but the revs are up around 2k and clutch has been fully out and no slipping. Backing off the accelerator almost completely and going back on seems to stop it happening for that acceleration and sometimes giving more accelerator helps. I think it mainly happens on inclines but has happened when pulling onto flat highways. It is also not from a hill-start but often pulling onto a hill and accelerating off in 2nd. While not hammering the car right after starting it, it tends to be more prevalent near the start of a drive but I do give it about 2-3 minutes to warm up either idling or backstreet driving.
Doesn't seem to happen in first but does occur in 2nd. Very slight jumps are sometimes felt in 3rd but very rarely and are always preceded by 2nd jumping.
Can't remember the exact details but it did burst a pipe related to the turbo when towing a ~1 tonne boat up a hill. When that happened all power was lost and when pulled over, a very audible air leak from the turbo area could be heard when revving slightly. Don't know the exact details sorry as it was my dad's car at the time. It was fixed by Subaru mechanics but this may have some correlation to the problem. "Too much boost" was what the mechanic said to my dad.
Everything is stock - want to fix this before modding.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers
